Insulation Materials

National Technical Standardization Committee for Insulation Materials is a technical department engaged in organization of preparing and reviewing national standards for insulation materials. It is responsible for the national technical management of insulation material standardization, and for counterpart management of the international standards of International Electro-technical Commission IEC/TC 10 (Electrical Fluids) and IEC/TC 15 (Solid Insulation Materials).

Introduction

National Technical Standardization Committee for Insulation Materials (SAC/TC 51) was established in 1984, with 75 members and 20 observers at present. And there are 2 subcommittees: 1) Technical Standardization Subcommittee for Thermoset Moulding Plastics (SAC / TC51 / SC1) and Technical Standardization Subcommittee for Heat Shrinkable Materials for Electrical Applications (SAC / TC51 / SC2).
Major responsibilities:
1) Propose policies and measures for standardization work for insulation materials;
2) Prepare national standards and industrial standard systems for insulation materials, and propose proposals for revising standards for insulation materials according to social demands;
3) Carry out standardization works such as drafting, collecting comments, technical review of national and industrial standards, and translation and review of foreign versions of the national standards;
4) Carry out promotion of national and industrial standards for insulation materials, and training of personnel for drafting standards;
5) Undertake interpretation of the national standards and industry standards;
6) Conduct evaluation and analysis of the implementation of the standards;
7) Organize analysis and comparison of domestic and international standards for insulation materials, study the development trends and work trends of the international standardization of IEC/TC 10 and IEC/TC 15;
8) Manage the two subcommittees.
Standard system of insulation materials:
The framework of the standard system for insulation materials includes three layers. The major category is insulation materials. And then based on the insulation material products, it is divided into 10 categories: varnishes, polymer resins and gum; resin-impregnated fiber products; laminates, rolled products, vacuum pressure dipped products and drawn products; mica products; films, adhesive tapes and flexible composite materials; fiber products; insulating liquids; moulding compounds for electrical applications; heat shrinkable materials for electrical applications; and other insulation material. Each category includes a series of products respectively.
There are totally 196 standards currently: 100 national standards and 96 industry standards (including JB/T and NB/T). And there are totally 207 corresponding IEC International Standard, among them, 50 standards of IEC/TC 10 (Electrical Liquid) and 157 standards of IEC/TC 15 (Solid Insulation Materials).
